Vladimir Depolo
Biography
V. Depolo was born in Belgrade (Serbia) in 1945. He graduated from the Belgrade University (Department of transport and transportation support), Yugoslavia. He has Master degree in road and transport planning and is Candidate (Science) in the field of planning and economy of transport at the Belgrade University. ACADEMIC ACTIVITY Assistant professor, the Department of transport and transportation support at the Belgrade University (present). PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE 2002 - present - adviser to Director General on investments into the transport infrastructure, manager of a design group for the first underground passenger line in Belgrade, Land development Public Agency and urban planning (Belgrade Serbia); - Senior research engineer on transport and planning, The Center of education and of new educational methods, analysis and study of the transport problems - CENTAR (Belgrade Serbia); 1995-2000 - Administration Head of the State agency for development of road economy, Belgrade; 1992-1996 - member of the Belgrade Commission on conversion of community facilities and city development, and member of the Belgrade Commission on traffic and transport; 1992-1994 - member of Executive Committee at the Belgrade Mayor's Office, responsible for city infrastructure and transportation systems; 1989-1993 - Director of YUGINUS, was a manager of research work on major projects, the majority of which had a considerable significance in the sphere of transport and developing methodology for evaluation of land. This research was needed for improvement of the local taxation system and developing relevant software; 1981-1985 - expert of UNDP; 1973-1989 - research engineer on the projects in the road and transportation planning at the Yugoslav Institute of urban planning and housing construction (YUGINUS); headed more than 20 research works and designs in the field of urban planning and development of the transport systems in Yugoslavia. PROJECTS (selected):
The present time - first underground passenger line in Belgrade (manager of design). Design work was started in 2003. The first stage of the design work was devoted to technical specifications, the line routing and to assessment of Feasibility study of the design. Besides, analysis of the work quality has been carried out with a special emphasis on the basis of private and state partnership. Total investment cost of the Project will be around 600 mln. Euro (including cost of the rolling stock). 2009 - Head of the group formulating a strategy of territorial development of the Republic of Serbia; strategy of transportation system development. Strategy of development transportation system up to 2021; specification of the first priority directions for all sectors of transport for the first five years. Analysis of the institutional potential has been carried out, and some improvements have been proposed; 2007-2008 - Deputy to Head of the Project: General transportation lay out of Belgrade. Developing an overall strategy of the transportation system up to 2021, including a plan of actions; 2002-2003 - Head of design: preliminary Feasibility study and Basic design of the internal city transport half-ring road. Laying transportation routes and assessment of economic efficacy of the most important highway of the city according to General plan of the Belgrad development. At present construction work is carried out within the framework of the first stage. Investment cost of the first stage amounts to 200 mln. Euro. The financing of the Project is effected through a loan from EBRD.
