Bjarke Ingels
Biography
Bjarke Ingels has studied architecture at the Royal Academy in Copenhagen andthe Technica Superior de Arquitectura in Barcelona, receiving his diploma in 1998. Bjarke Ingels started his own office in 2005,Bjarke Ingels Group, after having co-founded PLOT Architects in 2001 andcollaborating with Rem Koolhaas at OMA. Through a series of award-winning design projects and buildings, Bjarke Ingels has created an international reputation as a member of a new generation of architects that combine shrewdanalysis, playful experimentation, social responsibility and humour. Bypracticing what Bjarke Ingels likes to describe as ’programmatic alchemy’, BIGoften mixes conventional ingredients such as living, leisure, working, parkingand shopping into new forms of symbiotic culture. Bjarke IngelsGroup (BIG) Amalgamationof specialists of various specializations: architects, engineers, designers andscientists. The Group field of activity includes architecture, design and city development. Among the projects that are in the process of implementation are those in Europe, USA, Middle East and East Asia. B.I.G. are winners of avariety of architectural contests and price recipients.
